Community Engagement Manager, Capital One 1717 Innovation Center
Toria Edmonds-Howell is the Community Engagement Manager for Capital One’s 1717 Innovation Center. In her role, Toria leads engagement between Capital One associates and community partners (entrepreneurs and nonprofits) at 1717; providing skills-based volunteerism opportunities for Capital One associates to support community organizations.
In Spring 2018, Capital One’s 1717 Innovation Center opened as a collaborative workspace for community organizations and entrepreneurs to learn and innovate together to build a better Richmond. Through its investment in 1717, Capital One is able to support today’s startups and tomorrow’s thriving businesses, positioning the Richmond region as a leading destination for entrepreneurs.
Toria has an extensive background in community engagement with previous roles with the City of Richmond’s Office of Community Wealth Building which focused on building and implementing a holistic strategy to address interrelated needs in employment, education, housing and health, with the long-term aim of reducing overall poverty in the City of Richmond by 40% by the year 2030.
Toria is a native Richmonder with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia and University of Richmond, respectively. She currently resides in Church Hill and is the mom of one super resilient house plant.
